Installing MetaMask

  1. Install the Extension:

    • Go to the MetaMask website or directly to the Chrome Web Store (if you're using Chrome) or Firefox Add-ons.

    • Click on "Install" to add MetaMask to your browser.

  2. Create a New Wallet:

    • After installation, click on the MetaMask extension icon in your browser toolbar.

    • Click on "Get Started" and then "Create a Wallet".

    • Follow the instructions to create a strong password.

    • You will be given a unique 12-word seed phrase. Write this down and keep it safe. This phrase is crucial for restoring access to your wallet if you ever lose your password or need to restore your wallet on another device.

Using MetaMask

  1. Access Your Wallet:

    • To access your wallet after setup, click on the MetaMask extension icon.

    • Enter your password.

  2. Adding Ethereum and Other Tokens:

    • MetaMask usually comes pre-configured with Ethereum (ETH). You can add other tokens by clicking on "Add Token" and entering the contract address of the token you want to add.

  3. Sending and Receiving Cryptocurrency:

    • To send ETH or tokens, click "Send" and enter the recipient's address, amount, and gas fee.

    • To receive ETH or tokens, click "Receive" to get your wallet address.

  4. Using MetaMask with dApps:

    • Many decentralized applications (dApps) require MetaMask for interaction. When you visit a dApp, MetaMask will prompt you to connect your wallet.

    • Review permissions carefully before interacting with any dApp.

Security Tips

  • Backup Your Seed Phrase: Store your 12-word seed phrase securely. Do not share it with anyone.

  • Use Strong Passwords: Ensure your MetaMask password is strong and unique.

  • Beware of Phishing: Always ensure you are on the official MetaMask website or a trusted source when interacting with your wallet.
